Another Cup o' Joe ?

Currently, diabetes is one of the greatest health risks to Americans. A favorite beverage of many may help reduce your risk.

There are a number of ways to prevent diabetes, like losing weight, controlling blood pressure and maintaining a safe cholesterol range. Meta analysis of 18 studies, comprised of 450,000 participants, found that another way to prevent diabetes is through the consumption of coffee and tea. The more coffee or tea one consumes, the more the likeliness of diabetes is reduced. Although the specific link between coffee and tea to diabetes is unclear, researchers have found that magnesium, a chemical group called lignans, and chrorogenic acids are the three antioxidants that have been advantageous in lowering the risk of diabetes.

Researchers have found that 3 to 4 cups a day is associated with a 25% risk reduction--each additional cup of coffee or tea consumed is associated with a 7% reduction in risk.

It is recommended to drink one to two cups of coffee or tea in the morning and progress throughout the day with decaffeinated coffee or tea. Doing so will reduce the risk of diabetes and the negative effects of caffeine.
