“In working on a Biztalk project to load a HIPAA 834 eligibility file, I learned that while Biztalk itself is wonderful at moving data from point A to point B, the HIPAA extensions for 834 files like to treat either individual eligibility records or individual groups consisting of multiple eligibility records as single messages, and as such, Biztalk will not treat an 834 file with multiple groups as a single message.
As a result, in order to implement an 834 file which had 20+ groups in it, we had to actually work around the intended Biztalk infrastructure to get the 834 file loaded in a manner that:
1) Treated the whole file as a single message so that we could detect if groups were missing from the feed, and
2) Did not take 10 hours to process.”
